“ Hello my name is Helen and I am the leader of 3rd Talke Guide unit. We are a very busy unit based at St Martins Church hall in Talke and meet on a Monday, term time from 7.30pm till 9pm. Guides is fun and exciting and will challenge you to try new things, make new friends and have lots of fun. You can learn new skills and just chill out with your friends !!!! How cool is that! Don't worry about coming alone, you will soon have lots of new friends!
Guides offers girls aged 10 to 14 something different as they work on planning their own activities around the guide programme as well as working with a team. You will work in a small group called a patrol made up of a few guide friends, and will do BADGE work and GO FOR ITS and lots of other activities to challenge and stimulate you with an interest in other people and the world around you.
No need for a new guide to be daunted. Guide Leaders are fully trained and along with helpers and young leaders will give you all the support you need to settle into the unit. Your first week is free and after that it's £1.50 a week and new guides are welcome to attend a month before getting their uniform; to make sure that Guides is for them. A guide takes her promise when she is ready, and will need her uniform for this, full details in the starter leaflet.
