17th July 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Our readings this Sunday point out to us that Our Lord is the sign of peace between the members of His flock. As our shepherd He leads us towards our true happiness which is to be with Him for eternity and he protects us from that harm that can kill the soul. And we are reminded too that in the quietness of prayer we can truly be alone with that same loving shepherd and He will refresh our tired spirits.

THIS WEDNESDAY’S MASS WILL BE BROADCAST.

COFFEE AFTER MASS - We would now like to return to offering tea and coffee once more after the Parish Mass (albeit with disposable cups). We therefore need volunteers to help serving and wiping down the tables afterwards. Could we have a few volunteers please? Ideally we would like to look at getting things up and running by Sunday, 11th, July. Please speak to Fr. Victor or to Faith Kemp.

CHURCH BIG CLEAN - And again, many thanks for those who turned up on Saturday to give the Church a much needed clean and polish. It was once again appreciated.

FENNY POPPERS FESTIVAL - Sunday 15th August 2021

INDEED IT IS TAKING PLACE

Advanced notice that we will need bottles, alcoholic and otherwise for our Bottle Tombola and prizes for our Raffle.

There will be a crate located in the Vestry Hall for items donated.

We also need firm pledges of support from

Individual church members to man the various stalls on the day.

We would also welcome ideas as to new and different stalls that we could run.

This is our parish’s major fund raising event which after the year we have had is desperately needed. So please be generous with your time and commitment.

IF YOU WISH TO MAKE A DONATION TOWARDS THE COST OF THE FORTHCOMING CHURCH REPAIRS.

CHEQUES CAN BE MADE PAYABLE TO:

Saint Martin’s P. C. C. No. 1 A/c

MANY THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR CONTINUED GENEROSITY.

Firstly:

For Ross Stephen Copley and all those recently Ordained to the Sacred Priesthood this Peter-tide.

For those seeking rest and respite through a Summer Holiday or break, that they will find refreshment of body, mind and spirit.

For the continuing process of opening up society once more and for a continued drop in the rate of Covid infections and in the number of hospitalised victims.

For the continued rapid dissemination of the Vaccines for Covid 19 and for all working for this end.

Those who have found themselves out of work, particularly those who have families or other dependents.

For the Government as they seek to rebuild after these very difficult months.

For peace to reign within our homes and amongst one another.

For the elderly, housebound and those living in residential and nursing homes.

For our Ambulance Service and for our other Emergency Service Staff and for Milton Keynes Hospital and all who work there.

For Bishop Jonathan, for Father Victor, Father Ian and Father John and for all parish clergy as they seek to continue to make present in our midst the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass, the other Sacraments of Christ and offer continuing Pastoral care.

For Genesis Abbey, the Mother House of the Monastic Community of the House of Initia Nova of the Order of Saint Benedict. For it’s Abbot, Michael-John Austin, the community and for those new to its life.

For the Sick:

For Susan Carter, Chris Kliszewicz, Pam Wilderspin, Abbot Michael-John, Amie Reed, Paul Ward, Jean Holden, Peter White, Roger D’Elia, Norman Kent, Denis & Yvonne Simpson, David Lingham, Sandra Walduck, Eugenius Yung and Doris Weatherley.

For Dawn, Jacinta Lusamukha, and all the recently departed and for all those who have died of Covid 19.

We pray too for all whose whose Year’s Mind occurs at this time. For Alice Eames, Julia Cheney and Peter Fraser. Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord.

And let Light Perpetual shine upon them.

May God bless and keep you.

Father Victor (Dom Cuthbert OSB)
