5th Nov 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters, This Sunday we are faced with two courageous women. We have the account of the widow preparing to meet her end because of drought in the First Book of Kings, but who, nonetheless is still willing to share what little food she still has with the prophet Elijah. Then we have the account from Mark’s Gospel of the poor widow who still gives to the temple her small donation of two coins that she can ill afford.

The selfless generosity of these two women in very trying circumstances is a sign and witness to us of God’s reckless generosity in giving us Himself in His Son, Jesus Christ.

We too are called upon to emulate their profound trust and give all that we have to God in faith, trusting ourselves that God will always provide and look after us. He is, after all, our loving Father.

CHANGES TO RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION DURING THE PARISH MASS. We now use the Communion rails, once again, for Holy Communion. However, to maintain a safe distancing, four people at a time will be communicated, kneeling at Altar Rail. As soon as you have received, please make room for those behind you. If then you then would like to receive from the chalice you may do so by kneeling at the Altar Rails in Saint Catherine’s Chapel, to the right of the main Altar.
