9th October 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

There is no doubt that we each need certain means so that we can provide shelter, clothing and food for ourselves and those that we are responsible for. This Sunday’s readings are not condemning the pursuit of making a living but an unhealthy preoccupation with money and riches which Our Lord himself warns will make it difficult to enter His Kingdom. However, by being attentive to His Word and taking it to heart, we can learn the wisdom to know what is truly important, and how to live a truly balanced and Christian life.

TEA AND COFFEE IS SERVED AFTER MASS ON SUNDAYS - DO JOIN US FOR FELLOWSHIP.

CHANGES TO RECEIVING HOLY COMMUNION DURING THE PARISH MASS. We now use the Communion rails, once again, for Holy Communion. However, to maintain a safe distancing, four people at a time will be communicated, kneeling at Altar Rail. As soon as you have received, please make room for those behind you. If then you then would like to receive from the chalice you may do so by kneeling at the Altar Rails in Saint Catherine’s Chapel, to the right of the main Altar.

IT IS WITH PROFOUND SADNESS that we learnt that Ryan Phillips passed away on the 2nd October, last Saturday. He had come to find comfort and fellowship with us at Saint Martin’s and was, for a while, a familiar sight along with Luna his Husky. Please pray for the repose of his soul, that he is now beyond all pain and suffering, and please keep in your prayers Keith and Carole his parents and Adam his younger brother.

THERE WILL BE A REQUIEM MASS OFFERED FOR THE REPOSE OF HIS SOUL THIS TUESDAY EVENING AT 7.00pm. May he rest in peace. Amen.

SAINT MARTINS DAY AND THE BROWNE WILLIS DINNER. Our usual festivities will take place this year in honour of our Parish’s Patron Saint and places have been reserved at the Fenny Kitchen for the evening of Thursday the 11th at 7pm. The cost of the three course meal will be £15 per head. Drinks will be extra. A list is now available at the back of Church.

WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS. At the present time we have a real shortage of volunteers to help with teas and coffees after the Parish Mass on Sunday mornings. We are now down to three people who find themselves doing this continuously. Could we have some more volunteers please?

TIME OF CHRISTMAS EVE MASS. It seems that after our consultation the most popular time to offer the Christmas Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve is at 8pm this year. Thank you all for your feedback.
