SIXTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

- 12th February 2023

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We are led to reflect this week that while laws usually tell us what we must not do, God’s law is very different. Under Him, law is a charter for freedom and the path to life in all its fullness. We simply have to follow the example that he gave in the Gospels and the teaching He left to us that has been passed on through His Church.

OUR NEW BISHOP

We give thanks for the Consecration of a new bishop, Father Paul Thomas, who will have pastoral care of this parish. We pray that he will be a faithful pastor, teacher and high priest.

You have chosen your servant, Paul, to be a shepherd of your flock. Give him a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he build your Church as a sign of salvation for the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
