FIRST SUNDAY IN LENT

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Although He was God, Our Lord was tempted just as we are. Yet His steadfastness in time of trial teaches us that the passing attraction of sinful pleasures is as nothing compared with God’s rewards for those who are faithful to Him.
We use this Season of Grace to deepen our spiritual lives and our relationship with our Heavenly Father. We do this by more devoted prayer, by fasting and mastering ourselves and our unruly desires and by almsgiving and genuine works of charity.

PARISH NEWS SPECIAL LENTEN SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES
STATIONS OF THE CROSS will take place at 7.00 pm on Tuesdays and at 12.45 pm on Wednesdays in Lent.
CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS: HOW TO EXPLAIN AND DEFEND THE FAITH. This is a Video Presentation Course that both develops our own understanding of the Christian faith and how we present and commend this precious gift to others. It takes place on Thursdays at the Vicarage and starts at 7.00 pm. All are welcome.
PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO WALSINGHAM
Final call to gauge interest in a Parish Pilgrimage to Walsingham to take place this year over a weekend in September? For further information please speak to Fr. Victor. If there is interest a reservation will need to be made presently.
OUR NEW BISHOP
We give thanks for the Consecration of a new bishop, Father Paul Thomas, who will have pastoral care of this parish. We pray that he will be a faithful pastor, teacher and high priest.
You have chosen your servant, Paul, to be a shepherd of your flock. Give him a spirit of courage and right judgment, a spirit of knowledge and love. By governing with fidelity those entrusted to his care, may he build your Church as a sign of salvation for the world. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Please continue to remember the following in your prayers: For a good and faithful keeping of Lent.
For the strength to remain firm in our Christian faith and to give witness to it through our own example.
For the people of Turkey after the recent devastating earthquake and for those seeking to aid them at this time.
For an end of war in the Ukraine and in Somalia and the re-establishment of Peace.
That we may continue to remember, the needs of those so less fortunate than ourselves.
For our new Bishop Paul Thomas, that he may receive those heavenly gifts and graces to equip him to be a truly holy pastor teacher and High Priest.
For those at school, college or University, that they may be kept safe and well.
For those who work, particularly those who have families or other dependents.
For the Government, that in this time of rising costs we may see increased integrity within the world of politics.
For peace to reign within our homes and amongst one another.
For the elderly, housebound and those living in residential and nursing homes.
For our Ambulance Service and for our other Emergency Service Staff and for Milton Keynes Hospital and all who work there.
For Father Victor and Father Ian and for all parish clergy as they seek to continue to make present in our midst the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass, the other Sacraments of Christ and offer continuing Pastoral care.
For the Monastic Community of the House of Initia Nova of the Order of Saint Benedict as it continues settles into its new home in Ponce, Puerto Rico and that it finds the funds to furnish its new Motherhouse.
For it’s Abbot, Michael-John Austin, for all of the community and for those new to its life.
For the Sick:
