THE Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time - 9th July 2023

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Some things would be just plain laughable to us today that would have made sense in a previous age. Imagine King Charles or President Biden riding in state on a donkey. That would seem extremely incongruous and we would find it hard to hide a grin.

But the Son of God rode on a donkey - He showed us such humility and He did it to set an example to us. The truth is that it is not the clever, rich and powerful, but the humble who have the secret of life. Worldly priorities are ephemeral, for us as Christians it is our eternal destiny that is truly important.
