THE THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME - 16th November 2025

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In the vigil of the eternal Kingdom, the Church invites us this Sunday to listen attentively to the living Word of God. We gather around the Sacred Page to discern the meaning of the readings, to contemplate the mysteries revealed in Christ, and to place our lives once more under the gentle yet exacting pilgrimage of faith.

This Sunday’s readings call us to trust in God’s providence, to be vigilant in desire for the Lord, and to respond with steadfast hope to the signs of the times. The First Reading from the Book of Wisdom and the responsorial Psalm invite us to reflect on wisdom’s enduring presence and the path of justice, even amid the challenges of a world that often seems unsettled. The Second Reading from 1 Thessalonians emphasizes the call to holiness and readiness for the Lord’s return, urging us to live in a state of constant prayer and upright conduct. The Gospel according to Luke presents our Lord’s teaching on watchfulness, perseverance in faith, and the fidelity that marks the disciple who awaits the coming of the Son of Man.

As we listen, we are reminded that the Christian life is a continual turning toward the true Light who dispels fear and illuminates our steps. Let us open our hearts to receive God’s Word with humility and joy, permitting it to shape our thoughts, reform our desires, and empower our charity toward the neighbor.

May the grace of the Sunday Eucharist we celebrate together strengthen us to walk more faithfully in the Lord’s paths, building a community of hope, mercy, and truth. Let us pray for one another and for the broader world, that we may be guided by the Holy Spirit to live as faithful witnesses of the Gospel.

With blessings on you and your families,

Father Victor Bullock

THE FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING - 23rd November 2025

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

At the end of each liturgical year the Church gathers to proclaim and honour the kingship of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Solemnity, which lifts up the truth that Christ is sovereign over all creation, invites us to place Him at the centre of our lives and our communal life as Church. As we celebrate, we recall that Christ’s kingship is one of service, truth, and love—a reign not of domination but of mercy, justice, and universal peace.

Throughout the readings for this feast, we are reminded that Our Lord is the Shepherd who leads with courage, the Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep, and the King who calls His followers to holiness and mission. The First Reading presents the victorious Shepherd who gathers, tends, and frees His people. The Psalm extols the Lord’s anointed with confidence in His steadfast mercy and justice. The Second Reading proclaims the cosmic kingship of Christ and our vocation to live as citizens of His kingdom, characterized by faith, hope, and charity. The Gospel confirms Jesus’ authority and reveals that the true King reigns through service, humility, and sacrificial love.

As we lift our minds and hearts, we affirm with the Church that Christ’s reign is over every person and every nation, and that He calls us to participate in His mission: to witness to the truth, to seek justice for the poor and the marginalized, and to love as He loved. In the midst of a world marked by changing powers and uncertainties, the Solemnity of Christ the King anchors us in the constancy of God’s Kingdom, a kingdom that does not fade but endures forever.

Let us enter into the liturgy with gratitude for this gift of kingship, asking for the grace to conform our minds and wills to Christ our King.

May Christ our King bless you and keep you.

Father Victor Bullock
