THE TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME - 12th October 2025

Welcome, brothers and sisters,

This Sunday’s scriptures invite us to receive God’s abundant grace with childlike trust, to commit ourselves to genuine discipleship, and to let faith reshape our desires. The First Reading (2 Kings 5:14-17) recounts Naaman’s healing through a simple, obedient act—washing in the Jordan—showing that God often works through humble means. It also contrasts integrity with deceit, reminding us that true healing requires humility and fidelity to God’s word. The Responsorial Psalm (Psalm 98) praises God’s saving power revealed to all nations and calls us to joyful worship for His justice and mercy in history. The Second Reading (2 Timothy 2:8-13) points us to the core of Christian life: proclaiming the risen Christ with endurance, persevering in faith even amid hardship, and remaining faithful to Him who remains faithful. The Gospel (Luke 17:11-19) presents the healing of ten lepers, with gratitude completing the healing as only the Samaritan returns to give praise to God, underscoring that gratitude and faith go hand in hand. As we gather for prayer this Sunday, may we open our hearts to receive God’s grace through ordinary means, cultivate integrity in our lives, and respond with grateful hearts, generosity, and renewed faith in the mercy of Christ.

PRAYER FOR THE WEEK

Gracious God, as this new week begins, guide our minds and hearts to seek Your will, nurture love for You and our neighbours, and live with integrity and mercy. Fill us with wisdom, patience, and courage for daily duties, and strengthen our prayer, so that we may act justly and live as faithful witnesses of Your Kingdom. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

With every blessing in Christ,

Father Victor Bullock
