21st August 2021

Updated: Aug 28, 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Our Sunday readings this week serve to direct us to the truth that our faith in Christ our Lord finds its fulfilment in the Holy Mass, for here we celebrate the source and summit of our Christian life, where we acknowledge Christ Jesus as the Lord of Life, both here and eternity.

As we seek to serve a variety of needs and preferences the 8 am Mass on Sundays will be celebrated according to the ‘Usus Antiquor Anglicana’ - the Book of Common Prayer enriched in good old Anglo-Catholic fashion from the English Missal.

TEA AND COFFEE ARE NOW AVAILABLE AFTER MASS ON SUNDAYS - DO JOIN US FOR FELLOWSHIP.

PASTORAL LETTER- Please read the Parish Priest’s Pastoral Letter concerning how we are gradually moving out of months of Covid restrictions. It can also be found here on the Saint Martin’s Facebook Page. The good news is that we can sing again and share the fellowship we enjoy once more after Mass over tea or coffee. We do this, however, maintaining a little caution as we seek to move forward into the future together.

Many thanks to those that assisted or supported our Parish contribution towards the Fenny Poppers Festival. Despite lacking in manpower we were still able to furnish enough stalls to raise £591.96 on the day towards Church funds that are sorely needed to further our program of necessary repairs on the Church fabric.

Please continue to remember the following in your prayers:

Firstly:

That we may be able to raise the necessary funds to complete the program of repairs on the Church building.

For those seeking rest and respite through a Summer Holiday or break, that they will find refreshment of body, mind and spirit.

For the continuing process of opening up society once more and for a continued drop in the rate of Covid infections and in the number of hospitalised victims.

For the continued rapid dissemination of the Vaccines for Covid 19 and for all working for this end.

For those who work, particularly those who have families or other dependents.

For the Government as they seek to rebuild after these very difficult months.

For peace to reign within our homes and amongst one another.

For the elderly, housebound and those living in residential and nursing homes.

For our Ambulance Service and for our other Emergency Service Staff and for Milton Keynes Hospital and all who work there.

For Bishop Jonathan, for Father Victor, Father Ian and Father John and for all parish clergy as they seek to continue to make present in our midst the Sacrifice of the Holy Mass, the other Sacraments of Christ and offer continuing Pastoral care.

For the Monastic Community of the House of Initia Nova of the Order of Saint Benedict as it seeks a new home. For it’s Abbot, Michael-John Austin, for the community and for those new to its life.

For the Sick:

For Susan Carter, Pam Wilderspin, Abbot Michael-John, Amie Reed, Paul Ward, Jean Holden, Peter White, Roger D’Elia, Norman Kent, Denis & Yvonne Simpson, David Lingham, Sandra Walduck, Eugenius Yung and Doris Weatherley.

For the Departed:

For John Winder, Chris Kliszewicz, and all the recently departed and for all those who have died of Covid 19.

We pray too for William MacPherson, Herbert Culley, Bill Collins, Joan Watts, James Crook and all whose whose Year’s Mind occurs at this time. Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord.

And let Light Perpetual shine upon them.

God bless you all.

Father Victor (Dom Cuthbert OSB)
